Released Grain - Simple Habit Tracker
Why I built Grain
I wanted a simple digital habit tracker.

I know there are already many great habit tracker apps, but for me they pack in too many features.
What I want from this kind of app is to manage my habits daily, see my progress, and gain a bit of confidence from it.
I used to track my daily habits and progress in a physical notebook.
That experience is what made me want to build a simple digital habit tracker.
Paper is great for the ease of writing things down, but when you want to see your progress from a bird's-eye view, digital is better. In general, I feel digital beats analog when it comes to managing data.
The idea behind the name
I named this app "Grain".
I believe any achievement comes from adding grains of effort, one day at a time.
I also like these proverbs:
Many a little makes a mickle.
The boughs that bear most hang lowest.
Small achievements, repeated every day, eventually make a mickle — and the boughs that bear the most hang the lowest.
That's where confidence comes from: we can only draw confidence from what we've actually done.
What Grain does
Here's what Grain can do today:
- Add a habit
- Tap once a day to track it
- Review the grains of effort you've accumulated

What's next
Grain still has a long way to go. Here are the features I'd like to add, for myself and for other users.
I don't want Grain to become a complicated, high-cognitive-load app, so whenever I add a feature, I'll try to keep the UI simple.
- Reminder notifications
- Improve the UI and UX so it builds even more confidence through small daily steps
